Iceland Roadtrip, Updates and Flights.

Well This is our last day in Ísafjörður, north west Iceland. Tonight me and the Americans will fly back to Reykjavik and they will then leave for the United States again. I on the other hand made the spontaneous decision to move to Barcelona on friday. There was a filmjob here in Iceland on the menu for july and August but that recently went out the window. The first behind scenes clips from the roadtrip are ready and available HERE. Many more to...

On The Road..

We´ve been four days now on the road in Iceland. We drove out of the Capital Reykjavík on monday. So far We´ve camped in Skaftafell, Atlavík in Hallormstaðaskógur, Ásbyrgi and now we are in Akureyri north Iceland. On this route we explored the less known places in Iceland as well, like Þórshöfn, Raufarhöfn and Kópasker. It was interresting to visit these remote places just to see how life works up there, but to live there..hmm naa, not for me. We´ve been experimenting with the new filmmaking gear and got some very nice results, the nicest shots I captured so far were shot in Ásbyrgi during the midnight sun and in Mývatn. I´ve been shooting in 720 60p and 1080 24p, the 1080p from the NXCAM is silken, a format that I have fallen in love with. The quality is stunning. Especially if you customize the image using picture profiles. The cinematic shallow depth of field shots from Haukur´s 7D are also very nice looking. Next up, Ísafjörður, Westfjords. Obviously we´ll continue shooting and of course there are loads of behind scenes footage coming up so stay...

Upcoming Travels and Projects

I have received the Sony NXCAM NX5 camcorder, she is insanely sexy and the possibilities are endless. To test out the camera + Haukur´s new awesome Canon EOS 7D and the newly upgraded jibcrane and dolly, Me and Haukur, along with the Americans Chris and John are going on a roadtrip around Iceland Starting tomorrow. The plan is to drive along the south coast, then drive the fjords in east Iceland, through the north and finally end the trip in Ísafjörður, the capital of the westfjords. Once there we might film a little project for an adventure travel agency but we´ll see how it will turn out when we get there. Anyway, we have new gear and we are very exited to go out and...

The “DollyJib Rig”

I spent more time in the garage to make the finishing touches on my jibcrane. I assembled the tiltsystem and tried out the “dollyjib rig” where I put the jibcrane on top of the dolly. More about it HERE. (scroll down after clicking the...

Still Building

Yesterday I went back to the garage to upgrade my DIY equipment, I upgraded the cameraseat on the jibcrane, the camera now sits on the top instead of on the side and I built a tilt system for the crane as well. I still have to assemble this new tilt system but the parts are cut, drilled and welded. I also extended the tracks for my dolly, they´re now twice as long than before(around 3m) but detachable so I still fit everything into my Burton Chamber snowboard bag which is 160cm in length. Some visual info of the upgraded gear will be available on the site shortly. Another thing I need are some kind of rubber pads with glue on one side. Still don´t quite know where to get them but when I find them or something similar I´ll be able to place the jibcrane on top of the dolly track and use all of my custom gear in one rig. I´m looking forward to try that idea out and hopefully get some new exiting...
