HEILD, The Production

I received an email from my producer in the USA, Barbro Rakos.. She is working with various publishing firms and companies from around the world, I´ll let the letter talk for itself.   YAY!!!!!!!! This is great news!!!   So I guess I need to follow up pretty much right away. I’m on this.   This is getting official now. Speaking of contracts, I should probably write one up between us, just so we are both friends by the end of all this. I’ll draft something short and sweet, and send it to you.   OK, more about me & the blogs… there was an Iceland travel blog interested in you awhile back (tinyiceland.com) and they have contacted me for follow up. I just heard from them today, in fact. Not sure what their publication plan is yet.   Another mobile art blog (wearejuxt.com) contacted me for an interview about my involvement in this project. That will take place sometime in March.   Also, we still have a place in Instagramers.com heart. They want to report on your progress as soon as I have some news for them.   You also still have new fans in Switzerland…   …and I haven’t even really been working that hard on anything. That’s how crazy awesome this is.   I am taking some time off work to heal up from some health issues. Nothing horrible, I just had a couple of freak injuries, and need some time to recover. It’s made me rethink a lot of things. To pass the time, I’m in a filmmaking class with Linas Phillips.   …oh, and...

2013

Hey, merry christmas, Happy new year and all that!!,2013 is here. The long blog-silence is because editing a film takes insane amount of work, but at the same time maybe not that storytelling worthy. It´s going great though, the intro is almost ready(after about two months of CGI learning and animating) and the film itself is maybe around 70% rough-cutted. Still much work to be done. My American Producer, Barbro Rakos tells me that there is some growing interest for this film in the west. Rumor has it there will be some big blogs featuring my project HEILD. Also there will be a digital convention of some sort in Washington, where material from Iceland will be premiered and shown multiply times, they contacted an Icelander out in the USA, which then contacted me after viewing some of my recent work. Could be interesting to premiere a sequence from HEILD at these events. Regarding sound scores for the film, I have a few composers and musicians right here in Reykjavik, Friðjón Jónsson is one of them, and he already started working on this project. other local artists which will also manage some scoring for the visuals, but then I´m also planing other material from abroad. Well, lets get back to work….ps:this post is written at 5:02AM...

Fjallabræður – Þjóðlag

Last night Fjallabrædur premiered my 8:30min video to their song on a cinema screen, the song is called Iceland. The final version of it will include recordings of voices of around 30.000 people or 10% of the population in Iceland. The event last night took place in Háskólabío, in two different shows, each holding around 1000 people. It was nice to see the audience like our...
Editing, shooting, shooting more and editing.

Editing, shooting, shooting more and editing.

Still editing HEILD but I also now have a deadline on a 10min music video for Fjallabraedur choir. They´ve recorded 10% of the population of Iceland singing in their newest song called “Þjóðlagið” or Nation-song. I´ll have it ready in late november. The whole project(visuals and song) will be premiered in Kastljós in its full length +  a interview with Halldor Gunnar, the brain behind the project. Then a little later in december a documentary, behind the making of the whole project will premiere in Ruv, the national tv station in Iceland. The documentary is directed by Johannes Kr. Kristjansson(Kompás, stöð 2, etc.)     Although I planned this fall to be calm and quiet, there has a lot been going on, I shot a whole sequence for HEILD in one day on my new baby the Sony nex-Fs700 in Lakagigar, east Iceland. Also gathered some autumn footage in a 3 day solo-trip to Þingvellir National park. + finished shooting the night sky and northen lights shots, came home from there with two shots involving billion stars, our galaxy the Milky way, crazy, all directional clouds and glowing northen lights..   My newest trip and also the biggest was with my mates from Arctic Surfers, Ingo Olsen, Steinar Lár and Erlendur Þór. Ingo and Steinar were the guides, I was the filmmaker and Elli did photography. What did we do?.. we spent 6 days with a few of the worlds best female surfers. Shooting them from airplanes, cars and other gear. They were super fun and their style on the surfboard was jaw-dropping to say the least. I kind...

Editing on HElLD has begun.

As the title of this post implies, the post production on HEILD has begun, and what an enormous puzzle that this project is, cinematography for the film has now taken more than 1.5 years. The post production is scheduled to take another 6 months. Maybe not that news-worthy and exiting to read, simply an enormous amount of work. What else is up? We´re cooperating with Reykjavik Grapevine, shooting some turist friendly footage for them, We´ve also rented out our new Sony Fs700 to Luxor. They tested it out the other day shooting, grading etc and apparently were quite impressed with its capabilities. They told me that the Fs700 was comparable to RED footage for post production, the good thing about this is, We own the only one in Iceland and we rent it out cheaper than the higher end cameras like RED and Arri Alexa. Just today I sold Sjáreinn(a local tv station here in Iceland) some timelapse footage for a series they´re making at the moment called Óupplýst. Apparently the series is about ghosts and unexplained things and beings. Thats it for now, the website has been a little quiet these days, my apologies but this is only because editing isn´t the most exiting stuff to write and read about, although in HEILD the edit is maybe even the most important...
The Sony NXCAM Fs700E Super 35 Camcorder, check.

The Sony NXCAM Fs700E Super 35 Camcorder, check.

Today TrailerPark Studios received (co-owned with Gunnar Konrads) a Sony NXCAM Fs700 super 35 camcorder. nr 2 in scandinavia and unit nr 15 in the world. This camera is most definitely a huge level up for us at TPS, it is 4K ready(future firmware), super 35 cinemastyle sensor, interchangeable lens system and it shoots FullHD up to 240fps and 480fps at near FullHD. Also shoots 980fps at reduces resolution. This is insanely exiting. More about this camera...
